ABOUT MARU
"At MARU, we believe origin is everything."
MARU is nestled in East Bay, CA. We've built our little world in a studio the size of a laundry room since April, 2017. Although we create in tight spaces, it make us more keen to fine details. We love hand-delivering our Kokedama and adding special touches to every package shipped.
All materials used to create Kokedama are locally sourced and/or gathered organically. All items in 'small collections' are hand-made finds, inspired Japanese peices, or are made in Japan.
FINDING MARU (まる)
まる (MARU), means 'circle' or 'round' in Japanese. The meaning is used to express the shape of a Kokedama and we also use it to define the existence of something that can make one feel 'whole'. JP's story began after a visit in Itoshima, Fukuoka, a small city in southern Japan, where she learned how to share her crafts in deeper, more meaningful ways.
She has been growing flora since she was a child. She believes flora is deeply rooted within all walks of life. It connects us to our elders, ancestors, and those around us. As a student of Ikebana she feels an obligation to share authentic, humble, beautiful creations that connects us to the core.
I hope MARU can become a part of your story too.
Truly, JP
